A developing area of rainfall in the Mississippi River Valley is expected to move to the northeast into north central Illinois over the next several hours. Rainfall with rates up to 0.5 inches per hour are likely. Rainfall is expected to continue until changing to snow later this evening. Prior to the changeover to snow, widespread rainfall accumulations up to 1 inch are likely, with localized accumulations near 2 inches possible. Significant rises are possible on area streams and rivers, with rises on larger rivers such as the Pecatonica, Kishwaukee, and Rock continuing for several days. In addition to flooding of rivers, localized flooding of roadways and poor drainage areas is also possible. This outlook means that elevated water levels and potential impacts are possible, but not yet certain. Persons should closely monitor forecasts including the possibility of flood watches, warnings, and advisories. $$ WSL
