...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM CDT THIS 

EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN MOULTRIE, SOUTHERN SHELBY AND SOUTHERN 

COLES COUNTIES...



At 729 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 

rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain have 

fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but little additional 

rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 

shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Charleston, Mattoon, Shelbyville, Windsor, Lerna, Paradise, 

  Strasburg, Clarksburg, Gays, Oconee, Loxa, Etna, Wolf Creek State 

  Park, Coles County Airport, Lakewood and Fox Ridge State Park.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.
