...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT THIS 

EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN MACON, NORTHERN MOULTRIE AND NORTHWESTERN 

SHELBY COUNTIES...



At 846 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 

1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in an area from Assumption 

northeast to Arthur, with the heaviest amounts over far northern 

Shelby County. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible 

in the warned area, though rain rates will be diminishing by 10 pm.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Sullivan, Arthur, Moweaqua, Bethany, Lovington, Dalton City and 

  Cadwell.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
