...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 AM CDT THIS 

MORNING FOR MADISON, NORTH CENTRAL MONROE AND SAINT CLAIR COUNTIES 

IN SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS, SOUTHEASTERN SAINT LOUIS COUNTY IN EAST 

CENTRAL MISSOURI AND THE SAINT LOUIS CITY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI...



At 436 AM CDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy 

rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have 

fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in 

the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 

shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Public reported.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  St. Louis, Belleville, Granite City, O'Fallon, Alton, East St. 

  Louis, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Webster Groves, Godfrey, 

  Fairview Heights, Cahokia, Jennings, Swansea, Glen Carbon, Shiloh, 

  Crestwood, Bellefontaine Neighbors, Wood River and Highland.



This includes the following State Parks...

	Scott Joplin Historic Site and Horseshoe Lake State Park.



This includes the following highways...

	Interstate 64 in Illinois between exits 9 and 27.

	Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 23 and 30.

	Interstate 70 in Illinois between exits 21 and 24.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
