...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON HST TODAY FOR 

THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...



At 920 AM HST, the Kauai Emergency Management Agency reported that 

flooding impacts were ongoing, especially in the east and southeast 

areas of the island. Several roads remain closed due to flooding, 

landslides, and sinkholes.



Conditions over west Kauai have improved. As a result, the Flash 

Flood Warning has been canceled for portions of Kauai to the west of 

Port Allen and Hanapepe.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.



SOURCE...Emergency management.



IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,

         properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road

         closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible

         in steep terrain.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Lihue, Kapaa, Kalaheo, Princeville, Kilauea, North Fork Wailua 

  Trails, Wailua Homesteads, Wailua, Omao, Lawai, Hanalei, Koloa, 

  Wainiha, Poipu, Hanapepe, Anahola, Moloaa, and Haena.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 

if they are currently dry.
