...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE COASTAL WATERS...



The areas affected include...  



Coastal waters from Surf City to Murrells Inlet SC out 20 nm...  



At 1016 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms 

producing frequent cloud to ground lightning and  capable of 

producing winds to around 30 knots with small hail. These 

thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Buoy Off 

Carolina Beach to near Myrtle Beach, moving east at 20 knots.



Locations impacted include...

Little River Offshore Reef, Myrtle Beach Rock, A R 445, Cape Fear Sea

Buoy, Kure Beach Point, Sheepshead Rock, Jungle, Sherman Wreck,

Little River Reef, Dredge Wreck, Lockwood Folly Inlet Sea Buoy,

Springmaid Pier, and Surfside Beach.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the 

open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded 

metal objects.
