Long Island Sound West of New Haven CT/Port Jefferson NY...



At 618 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Mamaroneck

Harbor, moving southeast at 15 knots.



HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

         suddenly higher waves.



Locations impacted include...

Hempstead Harbor, Baxter Estates, Saddle Rock, Eastchester Bay,

Little Neck Bay, Oyster Bay Harbor, Execution Rocks, Cold Spring

Harbor, Manhasset Bay, and Mamaroneck Harbor.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, small hail, high waves, lightning 

strikes, and heavy rain are expected with this storm. If caught on 

the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from 

ungrounded metal objects.
