In 1902, a violent F4 tornado struck the small Texas town of Goliad, located in extreme South Central Texas. With a track 15 miles long and around 250 yards wide, the twister killed 114 people which, at the time, was the deadliest tornado in Texas history and the 11th deadliest in United States history. The tornado also injured 250 with damage estimates that ranged from $50,000 to $200,000. On May 11th, 1953, the Texas record of 114 deaths would be tied by the violent Waco F5 tornado, but the Waco tornado injured 597. The Waco tornado caused $41 million damage which, when adjusted for inflation, would be around $310 million. && In 1980, Mount Saint Helens erupted in Washington State. Spewing ash and smoke to around 63,000 feet, the volcano killed 57 people. $$ Auto
