A survey team from the National Weather Service office in Peachtree City GA determined that the damage in northern Dodge, far southern Laurens, and northern Wheeler county was due to an EF-1 tornado with maximum winds of 90 mph. Furthermore, the survey team determined that the damage in northern Montgomery and Toombs county was due to an EF-1 tornado with maximum winds of 90 mph. Another survey team traveled to Gilmer county to the south of Ellijay to investigate damage from the evening of May 8, and is still evaluating damage at this time.
