Preliminary Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.1 miles Path Width /maximum/: 200 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/11/2024 Start Time: 07:48 PM EDT Start Location: 1 E Glades / Fayette County / PA Start Lat/Lon: 39.73 / -79.51 End Date: 05/11/2024 End Time: 07:53 PM EDT End Location: 1 S Fiketown / Preston County / WV End Lat/Lon: 39.72 / -79.49 Survey Summary: A storm survey performed by the National Weather Service preliminarily confirmed an EF1 tornado, with maximum winds of 90 MPH, occurred in southeast Fayette County and northeast Preston County near Fike Run. The damage commenced along Guthrie road in Fayette county where several hardwood trees were uprooted. In addition, two barn doors were blown off and deposited across Flat Rock road. The twister continued southeast causing more down trees and snapped large branches off of Flat Rock road on the east side of the road near a gas well pad. The worse damage was located just across the state line into West Virginia off of Mason Dixon drive. There were over 200 down hardwood tress on both sides of the road nearly the entire length. A roof was blown off a detached garage and a tree fell on a car crushing the roof. A trampoline was places thrity feet on top of a tree. The damage across state route 26 was consistent of straight line wind as the storm bowed out. The National Weather Service would like to thank Fayette County Emergency Management Agency, Preston County Office of Emergency Management, and the Bruceton Fire Department for their assistance. It hasn't been that long since a tornado was confirmed in Fayette and Preston County. Fayette's most recent tornado was an EF2 on August 25th 2023. Preliminary Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 65 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.2 miles Path Width /maximum/: 20 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/11/2024 Start Time: 07:06 PM EDT Start Location: 1 ESE Lambert / Fayette County / PA Start Lat/Lon: 39.91 / -79.86 End Date: 05/11/2024 End Time: 07:06 PM EDT End Location: 1 ESE Lambert / Fayette County / PA End Lat/Lon: 39.91 / -79.85 Survey Summary: A storm survey performed by the National Weather Service preliminarily confirmed a brief EF0 tornado, with maximum winds of 65 MPH, occurred in central Fayette County near New Salem. Video confirmation confirmed a touch down. There were a few hardwood trees that had large branches down and a small tree was uprooted. No homes or structures were affected. This along with the one above makes for 18 tornadoes to impact Fayette county since 1950.
