The tornado proceeded to the southeast where it strengthened to an EF-1 tornado with maximum winds of 105 mph. Widespread tree damage was noted along the path. As the tornado reached peak intensity near E Maxwell Ditch Rd, one house suffered a significant loss of metal roofing from the upper floor and two windows were blown out. Several trees were also uprooted. Just down the street, several hardwood trees were snapped at the base. Just prior to the tornado moving out over Matagorda Bay, a house lost a significant amount of shingles and several trees were snapped. The entire roof of the front porch was also ripped off and landed on the other side of the house. Multiple videos and eyewitness reports indicate the tornado crossed the causeway and did not dissipate until after it crossed a piece of land just south of Keller Bay. .Port Lavaca and Magnolia Beach Straight-line Winds Date: May 13, 2024 Estimated Time: 2:58 PM Estimated Max Winds: 85 mph Maximum Path Width: 250 yards Path Length: At least 3.9 miles Beginning Lat/Lon: 28.59 / -96.63 Ending Lat/Lon: 28.58 / -96.57 Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 2 Survey Summary: A severe thunderstorm produced a swath of straight-line winds estimated around 85 mph just before 3 PM on May 13, 2024. An RV Park suffered the worst damage, with 12 RV's either damaged or completely destroyed. One additional RV was flipped near Magnolia Beach. There was also some sporadic tree damage and a couple power poles were significantly leaning.
