However, late in the afternoon more break in clouds could be seen over the area. Today's highs were in the low 60s in the western part of the Sunflower State to the mid to upper 60s in the southeast. Tonights lows will range from the low 40s in the Nebraska Panhandle to the mid 50s across southeast Kansas and near 60 in northwest Arkansas. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. But chances for showers and embedded thunderstorm increases overnight and persist through Sunday across far southern and southeast Kansas due to another shortwave trough expected to lift out of the Southern Plains. Highs on Sunday will be in the upper 60s to low 70s under partly to mostly cloudy skies with the risk of precipitation continuing over southeast Kansas. Over western Kansas winds will be on the increase during the day and will be southerly between 20 to 30 mph while eastern Kansas winds will be easterly around 12 mph. $$
