Starting with today...there could be a few spotty storms mainly before 4 PM...and mainly within counties north and east of the Nebraska Tri Cities. However...the vast majority of our area will remain dry today...as a bigger threat for severe thunderstorms focuses east of our area altogether. This will be the overall-warmest day of the week in most places...but with highs varying from the 70s in most northern and western counties...to the 80s in southern and eastern counties...particularly north central Kansas and around Hebron. It will be a rather breezy day as well...with winds starting out southerly...but then shifting westerly and northwesterly this afternoon behind a front...gusting 30 to 35 MPH. Turning to Wednesday and Wednesday night...nearly our entire coverage area is under at least a Marginal Risk for severe storms...but the overall-greatest concern resides near and especially south of the Kansas border...where a Level 3 of 5 Enhanced Risk has been posted. Particularly in this part of our area...there could be a few rounds of severe storms mainly during the late afternoon into the overnight hours...with large hail...damaging winds and perhaps even a few tornadoes possible. On a positive note...most of our coverage area should receive fairly widespread rainfall Wednesday into Wednesday night...with amounts of one-half inch to 1 inch fairly common...although localized areas could see a bit too much rain of 2 inches or more in a short time...possibly leading to some flooding concerns. $$
