MOUNT ROSE SUMMIT 1 ESE 82 VERDI 2 SSE 76 Precipitation associated with this Atmospheric River event is generally on a downward trend, as the low pressure system associated with this event moves across the High Plains today. However, a Slight Risk for Excessive Rainfall is in effect today across portions of central California, given a combination of enhanced rainfall rates (up to 0.5"/hr) and antecedent soil moisture conditions. Snow levels will continue to be relatively high, given that this is a relatively warm system, with only the higher peaks of the Sierra Nevada forecast to accumulate any snowfall. Otherwise, a melting snowpack will continue to impact rivers, which may contribute to flooding downstream. In the longer term, another Atmospheric River is forecast to begin to enter the area early next week, yet another powerful system to impact the region this winter. This will be the last Storm Summary issued by the Weather Prediction Center for this event. Please refer to your local National Weather service office for additional information. Genz $$
