Wintry precipitation is forecast to continue in the Northeast and downwind of the Great Lakes through Saturday with the heaviest snow totals forecast for today. Moderate to heavy snowfall will gradually decrease in intensity overnight tonight, but light snow will continue through Friday over northern New England. Total snowfall accumulations of 1-2 feet are likely for much of northern New England and the northeast part of the Adirondacks. The combination of wet snow, a high snow load, and the strong wind gusts could cause some tree damage and power outages. Additionally, Prolonged onshore winds will result in moderate coastal flooding for parts of the southern New England coast. Impacts include widespread roadway flooding, coastal and bayside flooding, impassable roads, and some damage to vulnerable structures. The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction Center at 1000 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather Service office for additional information on this event. Dolan $$
