The National Weather Service in League City has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Coastal waters from High Island to Freeport TX out 20 NM...

  Waters from High Island to Freeport TX from 20 to 60 NM...



* Until 800 PM CDT.



* At 732 PM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms was located 5 to 

  35 miles south of Galveston, moving northeast at 50 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and large hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in 

           structural damage.



* Locations impacted include...

  High Island 157, Heald Bank, High Island A23, Tabs Buoy B, High

  Island A179, Buoy 42035, High Island A61, Galveston 256, High

  Island 208, and Galveston 221.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, large hail, high waves, dangerous

lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the

open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded

metal objects.
