The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Coastal waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL out 20

  NM...

  Waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL from 20 to 60

  NM...



* Until 215 PM EDT.



* At 110 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing

  waterspouts was located near Palm Valley, or 19 nm northwest of

  Saint Augustine, moving east at 45 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts 34 knots or greater, and small 

           hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Atlantic Beach, Palm Valley, Casablanca Reef, Jacksonville Beach,

  Saint Johns Lighted Buoy, Anna Reef, South Ponte Vedra Beach, and

  Guana River State Park.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, small hail, high waves, dangerous

lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm. If your

vessel is caught offshore, immediately secure for heavy weather.

Ensure all crew members are wearing USCG approved Type I life jackets

and nonessential crew are below decks. Deploy jack lines and

harnesses if available. Check life saving equipment, including

batteries on handheld radios, for readiness.
