  Long Island Sound East of the Mouth of the Connecticut River...

  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...



* Until 1030 AM EDT.

          

* At 928 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Shelter

  Island Sound, moving northeast at 25 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and large hail.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in 

           structural damage.



* The severe thunderstorm will be near...

  Gardiners Bay around 935 AM EDT.

  Gardiners Island around 945 AM EDT.

  Napeague Bay around 950 AM EDT.

  Western Block Island Sound around 1005 AM EDT.

  Montauk Point around 1015 AM EDT.

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, large hail, high waves, lightning,

and heavy rain are expected with this storm. If caught on the open
