DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 AM CDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Pilar was located near latitude 10.4 North, longitude 101.4 West. Pilar is moving quickly toward the west-southwest near 22 mph (35 km/h). A turn toward the west and a decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. A slower west-northwestward motion is forecast by early next week. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next few days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center.
