On Monday, this trough will dissipate before reaching Lake Superior, leaving Lake Superior between 30.0 inch ridging over Quebec into the Lower Great Lakes and a new trough of 29.4 inches emerging over the western Dakotas. On Tuesday, 29.2 inch low pressure tracking across the Canadian Prairies will power the trough eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley. The trough will then sail across Lake Superior Tuesday night and Wednesday morning while the parent low pressure tracks from the Canadian Prairies toward northern Ontario. On Thursday, the low, weakening to 29.3 inches, will slowly drift southeast across northern Ontario while a 30.0 inch high pressure ridge builds southeast into the Central Plains. The ridge looks to overtake much of the Mississippi River Valley by Friday evening while the low over northern Ontario weakens to 29.5 inches.
