...River Statement For The Cahaba River...

.The axis of heaviest rainfall is expected to set up south of the 
Marion Junction forecast point area. While some minor rises along 
the river from Marion Junction southward to the confluence of the 
Alabama River are possible, this area should remain below 
established caution stage.


The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.
* At 8:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 3.9 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 36.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to 6.4 feet just after midnight 
  tonight. It will then fall to 6.0 feet early tomorrow afternoon. 
  It will rise to 7.0 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall 
  again and remain below flood stage.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins and 
  cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture 
  lands increases at stages above 20 feet.


It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has 
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next 
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may 
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
