...River Statement For The Coosa River...

.Heavy rainfall during the past 36 hours has produced rises on the 
Coosa River. However, levels are expected to remain below 
established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be 
of minor nature.


The Coosa River at Logan Martin Dam.
* At 8:00 PM CST Saturday the stage was 462.6 feet.
* Action stage is 465.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 467.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 466.2 feet early 
  Thursday afternoon. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 465.5 feet...Some minor flooding of lakeside 
  property...including piers and boat ramps...occurs.

Another statement will be issued by Sunday morning, or sooner if 
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for 
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has 
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next 
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may 
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
