High temperatures ranged from the lower 50s in northwest Arkansas to the lower 70s in the southeast. Readings ranged from 53 degrees at Fayetteville to 71 degrees at Monticello. On the Wednesday evening weather map, a cold front was over central Arkansas, and was slowly heading toward the Gulf Coast. Colder conditions were spreading into the region behind the front. Scattered light rain is expected late tonight into Thursday morning, with light freezing rain possible in the Ozark Mountains of the north. A thin glaze of ice is possible on some bridges and overpasses through Thursday morning in parts of the north. This includes areas north of Fort Smith, Marshall, and Salem. A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted. As far as temperatures, lows tonight will range from the mid 20s in northwest Arkansas to the lower 50s in the southeast. Highs on Thursday will range from the upper 30s in the north to around 60 degrees in the southeast. It will dry out over the northern counties Thursday afternoon and night, with small chances of rain continuing across the south. A stronger cold front will barrel through the Plains on Friday, and will surge through Arkansas Friday night. The front will bring additional chances of rain statewide, and will usher in much colder conditions late in the weekend. As temperatures drop, a wintry mix is in the forecast Saturday night into Sunday. it appears that light accumulations are possible. $$
