...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 AM EST THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of Piedmont North Carolina including southern 
  Mecklenburg County.

* WHEN...Until 845 AM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams 
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. 
  Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be 
  passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 241 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated gauges reported
    flooding due to previous heavy rainfall. Flooding is ongoing
    or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
  - At 240 AM EST, the stream gauge on Sugar Creek near Arrowood
    Road reported a stage of 14.0 feet.  At 14.0 feet, flooding
    of buildings downstream of Southern Pines and Red Oak
    Boulevard is expected.  Vicinity roads in the vicinity may
    become impassable.

    Central Charlotte and Southwest Charlotte near Red Oak
    Boulevard

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
