Depending on shifts in the current ice jam, rapid changes in water levels are possible. Any sudden release of the ice jam could result in sudden rises of water downstream of the main body of ice, to include rural areas south of the Heart River on the Mandan side of the river and south of Fox Island on the Bismarck side. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1126 AM CST, an ice jam in the warned area was causing a steady rise in water levels. Flooding of low-lying areas is occurring and expected to continue. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Rock Haven Creek, Missouri River, Heart River and Burnt Creek. - Some locations that will likely experience flooding include low-lying areas near the Missouri River from Misty Waters on down through Fort Lincoln State Park. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
