The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Boone County in north central Illinois...
  Winnebago County in north central Illinois...

* Until 215 AM CDT.

* At 916 PM CDT, doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  slow-moving thunderstorms producing rain rates of 1 to 2 inches 
  per hour. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen with additional heavy 
  rainfall moving into the area. Flash flooding is expected to begin 
  shortly in the Rockford metro area.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
           ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
           other poor drainage areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Rockford, Belvidere, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Roscoe, Poplar 
  Grove, Rockford Airport, Candlewick Lake, Cherry Valley, 
  Winnebago, Davis Junction, Pecatonica, Capron, Timberlane, New 
  Milford, Garden Prairie, Seward and Caledonia.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may 
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and 
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life 
and property.
