The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Cheyenne County in east central Colorado...
  Southeastern Sherman County in northwestern Kansas...
  Central Wallace County in west central Kansas...

* Until 1030 PM MDT.

* At 757 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain 
  have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1 
  hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Cheyenne Wells, Sharon Springs, Weskan, Wallace and Arapahoe.

This includes the following highways...
	Highway 385 between mile markers 149 and 159...and
	between mile markers 164 and 166.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Rose Creek, Headquarters Draw, Depperschmidt Draw, North Fork 
  Smoky Hill River, Goose Creek, Harris Draw, North Fork Rose Creek, 
  Pond Creek, Twin Butte Creek, Kolacny Canyon, Big Timber Creek, 
  Ladder Creek, Eagletail Creek, Coon Creek, South Fork Sappa Creek, 
  Lake Creek, Homestead Canyon, Turkey Creek, Willow Creek, North 
  Fork Ladder Creek, Sand Creek, South Fork Solomon River, Smoky 
  Hill, Gardner Draw and Smoky Hill River.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
