The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern Essex County in east central Virginia...
  Northwestern Richmond County in east central Virginia...
  Southern Westmoreland County in east central Virginia...

* Until 430 PM EDT.

* At 130 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 
  1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in the past 30 minutes. The 
  expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 30 minutes. Flash 
  flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Montross, Newland, Leedstown, Loretto, Hague, Singerly, Foneswood, 
  Peeds, Piney Grove, Templeman, Chance, Mount Holly, Lyells, 
  Kremlin, Threeway and Hustle.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
