At 1000 PM PDT, river gage readings indicated that McKay creek was falling at 6.8 feet. However, another rise is expected Monday night and Tuesday as the next wet weather system moves into the region and combines with snow melt run off. Flooding along lower McKay Creek and downstream on the Umatilla river from Pendleton is mainly due to a dam floodgate release from the McKay reservoir. This will continue through at least Monday. High water levels are likely to continue for the next few days due to the release from the dam. However, outflows from McKay reservoir is expected to be decreased after Monday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. People not helping or directly impacted by the flooding are encouraged to stay away from this area. Stay away from the creek as the banks may be unstable and could collapse.
