The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Albemarle Sound...

* Until 100 AM EDT.

* At 1126 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing
  waterspouts were located along a line extending from 10 nm
  southwest of Edenton to 13 nm southwest of Highway 94 Bridge to 19
  nm southwest of Albemarle Sound, moving northeast at 60 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  Highway 94 Bridge, Albemarle Sound, and Edenton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
