...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN NELSON...GRIGGS...
NORTHERN BARNES AND WESTERN STEELE COUNTIES THROUGH 745 PM CDT...

At 716 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Walum, or 26 miles northwest of Valley City, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Valley City, Cooperstown, Finley, Hope, Aneta, Sanborn, and Binford.

This includes Interstate 94 in North Dakota between mile markers 272
and 306.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for
southeastern and northeastern North Dakota.
