...SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUE AREAWIDE THIS AFTERNOON...

* Snow/pellet showers ongoing across the Sierra and western Nevada
  are expected to increase in coverage through the late afternoon.
  Snow accumulations will remain generally light areawide, but
  slick roads remain possible, especially in the Sierra. Expect
  brief visibility reductions under passing showers.

* A band of heavier showers looks to develop along a line roughly
  from Truckee to Hawthorne this afternoon/evening, with locally
  heavier snowfall up to 1-2 inches possible under this band. 
  Increased instability this afternoon may also lead to embedded 
  thunderstorms, with a 15-20% chance generally south of I-80.

* Expect showers to taper off overnight, with clearing skies
  leading to another widespread hard freeze Saturday morning.
