...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN BROOME...
SOUTHEASTERN CORTLAND...NORTHEASTERN TIOGA AND SOUTHWESTERN CHENANGO
COUNTIES THROUGH 500 PM EDT...

At 414 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Newark Valley, or 11 miles north of Owego, moving northeast at 35
mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Maine, Nanticoke, Coventry, Greene, Berkshire, Richford, Willet,
Newark Valley, Whitney Point, and Marathon.

This includes the following highway exits...
 New York Interstate 81 between 7 and 9.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
central New York.
