  McDowell County in western North Carolina...
  Northwestern Rutherford County in western North Carolina...
  Mitchell County in western North Carolina...
  Southwestern Avery County in western North Carolina...
  Eastern Yancey County in western North Carolina...

* Until 615 PM EDT.
    
* At 525 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 9 miles south of Marion, moving north at 50 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Marion around 540 PM EDT.
  Spruce Pine and B.R. Parkway-Craggy To Little Switzerland around 
  550 PM EDT.
  Bakersville around 600 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this dangerous thunderstorm include Nebo,
Buladean, Bandana, Ingalls and Thermal City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
