several hours, up to an inch of rain has fallen. Rainfall rates of
generally around a quarter inch per hour have been observed with
up to a half inch per hour at times. This rainfall is expected to
continue through the next several hours. Minor flooding has been
reported on Highway 395 near Olancha as of 1AM. Flash flooding
will be possible through the early morning hours.

* Until 715 PM MST Wednesday
* At 916 AM MST, Doppler radar indicated widepsread long duration
rainfall over the Zion National Park area.
Additionally...thunderstorm activity is forecast to move into the
area later this afternoon.
* Rainfall amounts of 0.75" to 1.0" is forecast to fall over this
area through the afternoon and early evening hours. This amount of
rainfall is expected to bring all slots...small streams...and
specifically the North Fork of the Virgin River to flood.
* It is also possible that localized thunderstorms will enhance the
flooding depending on location and duration.
* Please avoid any waterways in and around Zion National Park today
and into the nighttime hours...as conditions will be quite
dangerous for travel...hiking...and canyoneering.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hurricane, La Verkin, Zion National Park, Toquerville, Leeds,
Virgin, Springdale, Rockville, Pintura and Kolob Canyon.

Southwestern Washington County in southwestern Utah...
* Until 700 PM MST
* At 230 PM MST, Doppler radar and area gauges indicate widespread
rainfall of one to two inches have already fallen across the Santa
Clara basin. An additional half inch to an inch of rainfall is
possible through 500 PM. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly, particularly over the smaller streams and drainages
feeding into the Santa Clara River.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Washington, Hurricane, Santa Clara, Ivins, Pine Valley, Gunlock,
Veyo, Snow Canyon State Park and Goldstrike.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
