Flooding of rivers, creeks, ditches, and poor drainage areas possible across northeastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana tomorrow into the weekend. Significant river rises and renewed flooding possible along the Iroquois, Kankakee, Des Plaines, and Illinois rivers. The confidence in flooding has decreased since previous outlooks. Rainfall is expected to begin tonight and continue into Thursday night. Widespread rainfall totals up to half an inch are possible, with isolated amounts up to 2 inches especially across northwestern Indiana. Runoff from any rainfall will be increased due to high soil moisture values across the region due to recent wet weather. Significant rises are thus possible on area streams and rivers if heavy rainfall occurs. In addition to flooding of larger rivers, flooding of fields, ditches, and poor drainage areas is also possible. Confidence in the exact placement of rainfall and the exact rainfall totals remains low at this time. Heavy rainfall may occur just east of the area, in which case no flooding would be expected. This outlook means that elevated water levels and potential impacts are possible, but not yet certain. Persons with interests along area streams and rivers should closely monitor the latest forecasts. There are currently no updates scheduled for this outlook. $$ WSL
