Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between

the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is

based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,

and meteorological analysis.



...SIGNIFICANT/SPECIAL FEATURES...



TROPICAL AND MONSOON DISTURBANCES...

A circulation now designated as Invest 98W located to the east of

Ulithi near 9N140E. A monsoon trough extends from 15N130E through

98W to 6N147E. Spotty convection is located over Palau and Yap 

between 5N and 10N from 133E to 143E and over and south of Guam.



...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS...



TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...

A trade-wind trough extends from EQ155E to 7N155E and is

associated with a small area of convection over Chuuk.



OTHER SYSTEMS...



...ITCZ...

The ITCZ extends from 157E to 165E and is associated with modest 

convection over Kosrae. Trade-wind convergence north of the ITCZ

is generating spotty convection north of Kosrae and Majuro.





...DISCUSSION...

Invest 98W will move north to northwest over the next 24 hours

with little change in intensity. Convection areal coverage and 

intensity will remain the same.



The trade-wind trough will blend with the ITCZ and generate

convection over Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. The area of trade-wind

associated convection will continue north of Kosrae and Majuro.
