Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between

the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is

based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,

and meteorological analysis.



...SIGNIFICANT/SPECIAL FEATURES...



TROPICAL AND MONSOON DISTURBANCES...

A circulation designated as Invest 98W is located close to Yap 

near 10N138E. A monsoon trough extends from 11N130E through 98W 

to EQ140E. Spotty convection is located over Palau and Yap between

7N and 10N from 133E to 140E and south of the trough between 2N 

and 7N from 130E to 138E. Convergence northeast of 98W is 

generating modest convection southwest of Guam.



...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS...



TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...

A surface trough extends from EQ153E through a circulation

southeast of Chuuk near 6N153E to 7N153E. Low-level convergence 

to the east of the circulation is producing modest convection over

Pohnpei. 



A trade-wind trough is producing spotty convection north of 

Pohnpei between 9N and 15N from 156E to 161E.



OTHER SYSTEMS...



...ITCZ...

An ITCZ extends from 163E to 180. An embedded surface trough in 

the ITCZ pattern is generating spotty but modest convection 

between Kosrae and Majuro. 



...DISCUSSION...

Invest 98W will move slowly towards the northwest to the northwest

of Yap near 12N137E. The monsoon trough will extend from 11N130E 

through 98W to 13N140E. Convection will continue over Palau and

Yap and also extend to near Guam. 



The circulation near Chuuk will move slightly westward.

Convergence will continue to produce convection over Pohnpei. 

The trade-wind trough will continue to produce convection north of

Pohnpei. 



The ITCZ will remain in the same general location and extend to

7N. Convection will continue between Majuro and Kosrae. Convection

will also cover Majuro.



A trade-wind trough will develop northwest of Majuro and produce

convection north of 10N and north of Majuro.
