...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 AM CDT THIS 

MORNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN CASS, NORTHWESTERN CHEROKEE, GREGG, 

HARRISON, MARION, NORTHERN PANOLA, NORTHERN RUSK AND SOUTHERN SMITH 

COUNTIES...



At 901 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 

and 6 inches of rain have fallen since Monday evening. Additional 

rainfall amounts of a half inch to an inch, with isolated higher 

amounts up to 2 inches, are possible in the warned area through 1030 

AM. Several roads are flooded across Northern Cherokee, Northern 

Rusk, Central and Southern Harrison Counties, with ongoing runoff 

not allowing for much water recession through mid morning. Flash 

flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Jacksonville, Henderson, Kilgore, 

  Whitehouse, White Oak, Gladewater, Hallsville, Overton, Bullard, 

  Waskom, Jefferson, Troup, Tatum, New London, Arp, Clarksville City 

  and Beckville.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
