...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 AM CDT THIS 

MORNING FOR NORTHWESTERN JEFFERSON, ORLEANS, NORTHWESTERN 

PLAQUEMINES AND WEST CENTRAL ST. BERNARD PARISHES...



At 1047 AM CDT, emergency management reported many roads in and 

around New Orleans are currently under water and impassible. Between 

2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 

to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 

already occurring.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing

         flash flooding.



SOURCE...Emergency management reported.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  New Orleans, Chalmette, Harvey, Timberlane, Marrero, Belle Chasse, 

  East New Orleans, Metairie, Avondale, Jefferson, Gretna, Harahan, 

  Westwego, Arabi, Terrytown, Meraux, Bridge City, Elmwood, Violet 

  and River Ridge.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
