...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 PM EDT THIS 

EVENING FOR NORTHEASTERN BOONE, EAST CENTRAL CABELL, KANAWHA, 

NORTHEASTERN LINCOLN, SOUTHWESTERN ROANE, SOUTHEASTERN JACKSON, EAST 

CENTRAL MASON AND PUTNAM COUNTIES...



At 815 PM EDT, emergency management reported several water rescues 

are currently ongoing across the area due to heavy rainfall with 

training showers and thunderstorms. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain 

have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are 

possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Showers and

         thunderstorms producing flash flooding.



SOURCE...Emergency management reported.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Charleston, Nitro, Winfield, Hamlin, Jefferson, South Charleston, 

  St. Albans, Dunbar, Hurricane, Sissonville, Chesapeake, Eleanor, 

  Marmet, Belle, Clendenin, Cedar Grove, Poca, East Bank, Glasgow 

  and Institute.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 

potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 

roads. Find an alternate route.



Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll 

free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
