...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 AM CDT FRIDAY 

FOR EASTERN AND SOUTHERN MCDONOUGH COUNTY...



At 803 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported water on several rural 

county roads. Doppler radar indicated rain with occasional embedded 

thunderstorms continuing across the warned area. The rain should 

continue through the rest of this evening. Between 1.5 and 2.5 

inches of rain have fallen in southern and eastern parts of the 

county. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are probable in 

the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 

shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Bushnell, Industry, Prairie City, Bardolph, Adair, New 

  Philadelphia, Pennington Point, Doddsville and Prairie City 

  Airport.



This warning includes U.S. Highway 136.



This includes the following streams and drainages...

  La Moine River, Grindstone Creek, and Camp Creek.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
