...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST EARLY THIS 

MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...



At 418 AM HST, rainfall has eased with rates below one inch per 

hour. However, runoff levels remain very high and flooding impacts 

continue, especially over southeast and east Kauai. The Kauai 

Emergency Management Agency reported multiple roads closed in the 

Koloa and Wailua areas. Kuhio Highway also remains closed near the 

Hanalei River Bridge.



HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.



SOURCE...Emergency management.



IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in drainages,

         streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low lying

         areas. Multiple public road closures expected, as well

         as landslides in steep terrain.



This warning includes the entire island of Kauai.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 

if they are currently dry.



Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on 

foot. Turn around, don't drown.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
