...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS 

MORNING FOR WEST CENTRAL CARTER COUNTY...



At 949 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 1.75 inches of rain this morning. While 

the heavy rain has since ended, runoff will continue to cause 

instances of Flash flooding of area creeks and streams.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Olive Hill, Globe and Soldier.



This includes the following streams and drainages...

  Henderson Branch, Upper Tygarts Branch, Big Run, Kiser Branch, 

  Jacobs Fork, Barrett Creek, Dry Fork, Flat Fork, Soldier Fork and 

  Perry Branch.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll 

free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
