The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  Berkeley County in southeastern South Carolina...

  Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...



* Until noon EDT.



* At 759 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 

  heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or 

  expected to begin shortly.



  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms

           producing flash flooding.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Downtown Charleston, James 

  Island, Fort Sumter, Daniel Island, West Ashley, I-26/I-526 

  Interchange, Johns Island, Isle Of Palms, Folly Beach, Sullivan's 

  Island, Fort Johnson, Charleston Naval Complex, Charles Towne 

  Landing, James Island County Park, Maybank Bridge, Sullivans 

  Island and Don Holt Bridge.



Automated rain gauges indicate that 1 to 2 inches of rain has 

already fallen across the Charleston area this morning. Radar 

imagery shows a very intense area of rainfall poised to move across 

the area over the next 1 to 2 hours. Rainfall rates will be intense, 

with 2 inches or more per hour possible. Additional rainfall amounts 

of 2 to 3 inches will be possible through the late morning hours. 



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.
