...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM HST THIS EVENING FOR THE 

ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.



* WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County.



* WHEN...Until 615 PM HST.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in 

  streams.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 310 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the eastern

    slopes of the Big Island. The highest rain rates were 1 to 2

    inches per hour over the South Hilo and Puna Districts. This

    rainfall may continue into the evening hours.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Mountain View, Glenwood,

    Volcano, Hawaiian Acres, Keaau, Orchidlands Estates,

    Papaikou, Pepeekeo, Pahoa, Honomu, Hawaii Volcanoes National

    Park, Hakalau, Ninole, Laupahoehoe, Ookala, Kurtistown and

    Eden Roc.





PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due 

to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.



A Flood Watch is also in effect for the main Hawaiian Islands until 

6 AM HST Saturday.

persists.
