.The ice jams on the Kuskokwim River are located at the mouth of the 

Tuluksak River, downstream of Tuluksak at Mishevik Slough and below 

Akiak on the mainstem Kuskokwim River.  Cold temperatures are 

helping keep the jams in place and slowing their movement.

THURSDAY FOR TULUKSAK AND SURROUNDING AREAS ON THE KUSKOKWIM RIVER...

...REPLACES FLOOD ADVISORY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by ice jams are occurring and expected to 

  continue.



* WHERE...the Kuskokwim River near Tuluksak.



* WHEN...Until 1215 PM AKDT Thursday.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of the Kuskokwim River, Tuluksak River and 

  Mishevik Slough and other low-lying and flood-prone locations are 

  occurring. High water may continue to impact the water treatment 

  facility.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 723 AM AKDT, the River Watch Team reported an ice jams on

    the Kuskokwim River and tributaries near Tuluksak. Water is

    flooding one home and other homes may be impacted. Impounding

    water due to the ice jam will cause rapid river rises

    upstream. Colder temperatures may keep the ice jam in place.
