...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.



* WHERE...A portion of western New York, including the following 

  county, Monroe.



* WHEN...Until 500 PM EDT Saturday.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of low-lying and flood-prone locations is 

  occurring, particularly in the Ellison Park area.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1052 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Flooding

    is ongoing, but will gradually recede through this afternoon

    in the warned area. Between 1.25 and 1.5 inches of rain have

    fallen.

  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.1 inches are possible in

    the warned area.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Rochester, Irondequoit, East Rochester, Brighton and

    Penfield.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where 

you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become 

killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or 

creeks.
