...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM AST THURSDAY...



* WHAT...River flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Aguada, Aguadilla, Moca and San Sebastian.



* WHEN...Until 245 AM AST Thursday.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 

  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams 

  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. 

  Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be 

  passable. Local media have reported water rescues.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 552 PM AST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges

    indicated earlier heavy rainfall across the Rio Culebrinas

    basin, Excessive runoff associated to this will further cause

    flooding across the Culebrinas and its tributaries

    downstream. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area.

    Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.

  - This includes the following streams and drainages...



    Rio Canas, Rio Guatemala, Rio Culebra, Rio Culebrinas and Rio

    Sonador.



    Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in

    the warned area.





PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where 

you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become 

killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or 

creeks.
