...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...



* WHAT...Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive 

  rainfall continues.



* WHERE...A portion of northeast Texas, including the following 

  counties, southeastern Cass, northwestern Cherokee, Gregg, 

  Harrison, Marion, northern Panola, northern Rusk and Smith.



* WHEN...Until 230 PM CDT.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 

  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams 

  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. 

  Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be 

  passable.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 100 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges

    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is

    already occurring in the warned area. Between 4 and 6 inches

    of rain have fallen.

  - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is

    expected.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Jacksonville, Henderson, Kilgore,

    Whitehouse, White Oak, Gladewater, Lindale, Hallsville,

    Overton, Bullard, Waskom, Jefferson, Troup, Tatum, New

    London, Arp and Clarksville City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
